Now let me start out by saying that whenever I get to play a show, I am very thankful that the venue will have me. I’m a little bit of a sucker for charity events and I’ll play a show almost anywhere if I have the time. 9 out of 10 times I have to request that day in order to play a show. Which is fine, but it’s still a day I could be working and getting paid for it.
My last two shows were utter and complete failures, and in a way I guess it’s my fault for not doing my research. The first show I played was at an anime convention, which in retrospect, was a terrible mood. My only reason for playing was being able to see a really good friend. Due to unforeseen consequences (the convention wouldn’t pay him for gas or a room to stay in) he could not attend. But, being the good person I was I decided to play anyways because I already had the night off.
I knew I wasn’t going to be paid for this after I walked in and realized how small this event was, so I began to drink rum and beers before my set. They didn’t even advertise that I was playing on their website or when I was there. So I drank more because of it. I’m not sure if the Booker realized that as a musician/rapper that I am not in any way, shape, good at setting up music equipment. I had to set up my microphone and beats without a sound guy. I felt like I was working for them without getting paid
The show I did was atrocious to say the least. Nobody cared that I was on stage, and to make matters worse I was told after two songs that I need to stop swearing. I feel like that should have disclosed to me when booking me. So, to recap: I had to set up all the sound, I was not paid, and I couldn’t swear. This was not a good time at all. The Booker did however, buy me one drink (for $5) so I guess that eases the pain a little bit. Still, this is completely unprofessional. Screw you Kitsunecon Ohio.
So the other show I did was at a college, Baldwin Wallace to be exact. It was for charity, which are the best shows. I actually enjoy raising money for a good cause. Because this is a charity event, I knew I wasn’t going to get paid. Which is fine, it’s a charity show. They told me to get there early for soundcheck, and I got there on time. Then I was told that soundcheck happens now before my set. Great, now I’m just sitting around for an extra hour for no reason.
The only people who really showed up were people who had to participate in their Greek week and the few people who came to see me They had free food, which is good and bad. It’s good because free food is fantastic, but it’s bad because everyone sits down and doesn’t participate in the show. I felt like I was at a comedy club, and nobody was laughing.
I had recently made one of the smartest purchases of my life, a wireless microphone. So I brought the show to the people sitting down, because I had a job to do. I would run around and sit at the tables and rap, then get up and do it again. None of them were amused by it.
Overall, I need to learn to pick shows carefully and do a fair amount of research so I don’t end up in these bad situations again

I really should start using this website more often, it’s just that twitter is so much easier. I am four classes away from my spring break adventure of staying home, working, and writing. I have many songs that need to be written, so I feel like this week they will actually be done. I blame my classes for taking up all my valuable rapping time….that and Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Regardless, with these new tracks I am working on they will be added to my set list for live performances, which is something I am lacking on. I need more content in my shows, and that is what I planned on working on this year as an artist. I pride myself on my live shows, I think they are great, why not make them stellar?
Shows wise, I have two coming up in April on the same weekend actually!
1.) April 8th @ Wilberts I will be hosting the event, so I will be rapping throughout the evening.
2.) April 10th @ Roc Bar and I have an actual set for this one, expect all my raps at once!
Anyways, this is all I have for now, maybe I will start recording behind the scenes stuff or something. That would be kind of fun.

Just a small update I suppose this time. I have many resolutions this year but I do have one that actually pertains to music, which I will succeed with flying colors. I plan on doing more shows, in and out of Ohio. I also have many projects that are still under construction. One being Mechasword, a Nerdcore Supergroup with MC Gigahertz, B-Type, and DJ ROBOROB on the beats. The others I am not at liberty to discuss them, but I will tell you that one is an EP and the other is a live project. Let’s see what I can do.
Kyle out.

My first semester of Akron appears to be today, and to be honest, I am quite excited about the matter. This is my first real college I have attended because I took 2 years at a community college. So far so good I suppose. I still feel like a community college person though because I am just commuting but I am sure as the weeks go on that will fade.
I apologize to anyone who is supposed to be receiving collab verses from me. Work has me tied up at the moment, and now school is here. You will get them soon enough!
Show wise I have a charity event this saturday at BW College between 8:20-8:50PM. It is to help fund the Berea Children Home. All the money goes straight to them, so as always, this is a cause I can get behind fully.
I’m going to go though, they are demolishing a building on campus and I can’t stand the racket any further.
